Hi all,

I am starting a wrapper and have been reading through the discussions of such on this site, but find myself still confused on some details of construction.  I am making a calico wrapper that will be worn down to breakfast at a hotel, in the summer.  I would like it to be princess cut in both front and back, and worn buttoned and with a belt.

1.  Should it be fully lined, or only the bodice?

2.  Can the lining and the wrapper fabric be sewn together at the front, and the buttonholes worked through both layers?

3.  Must I dart or pleat the bodice, or can it just button and be belted?

4.  What kind of collar should I put on it?

5.  Can it have a V-neck?

6.  Must it have a side or side back panel, or can it simply be three pieces, two fronts and a back, and have just the two side seams?

Thanks,
Sarah

1. just the bodice
2. I think so
3. *earlier in the post you said you wanted it to be "princess cut in both front and back". In that case the shaping is done through princess seams, not darts or gathers*
4. a narrow white cotton collar or a self-fabric collar with a white collar worn over the top
5.yes, a shallow v neck is fine, or a deep v neck with chemisette
6. *earlier in the post you said you wanted it to be "princess cut in both front and back". In that case the shaping is done through princess seams, not darts or gathers* if this is really the style you are going for it should have 2 front, 2 side-front, 2 side-back and 1 back piece.

Thanks, Micaila.  That helps.  Sorry about the general discombobulation in my post.

That's all right. Sorry for the short answers, I just didn't want to leave you hanging. The forum has been slow lately and I didn't want you to have to wait until everybody got from whichever events they're attending to get an answer.
