I have been shopping for chairs and came across these. Just wanted to share and see if anyone had comments.

Wow. I really love that fist one, the dark wood and the rich carpet. It reminds me of a chair my grandpa had as a child, theirs had a companion chair, one that didn't fold up that could seat two made in the same style with the same carpet on the bench seat. There are photos of him and his twin sitting on them in pretty little white dresses when they were toddlers. I think theirs might date from the late 1800s to early 1900s though.

1 - Love it... want it... great
2 - Love it... not for 1860s
3 - Not a construction I can place. The back kills the look for me.

I think #3 is 19teens.  Love #1, the carpet is gorgeous!

Agreed, everything about #3 says "Edwardian."

IMHO, only the first picture comes close to 1860s. Wink

Hi, I have the same question.  Would this chair be appropriate for 1860s use?

The curved side pieces look like many of the posted examples, I think, but the fabric has me confused.

The fabric is a bad re-cover job.  Certainly not original.

I think the chair is fine.

Ditto what Martha said.
You can fin a better fabric & replace that pretty easily.
