Hello,
I am working on a display for an event in August. I have no interest in asking the museum for tables and chairs to use as the only things that they would have are modern metal or artifacts. This is an indoor demonstration.

Anyway, I have a kitchen table that has tapered legs very similar to period tables that I have seen. The problem is that it need to be painted. The farmstead house is German but I'm not fond of black painted furniture. I have also seen mustard yellow.

Has anyone painted a table for such a use? Any suggestions on color?

I will also mention that for this project the table will be covered with a table cloth but I would like to be able to use it for other projects as well.

Thanks so much for any suggestions.  Smiley

I have not painted tables, but in the area that I live, the majority of PA Dutch/German furniture was painted red or red and black.  That's not to say that all pieces were painted these colors.  There were mustard yellow, blue, and green.  I always paint with"milk paint"--colors are great, and you can mix them for your own personal preference.  Check the history of the persons you are to be representing--it may tell a story as to what their furniture was painted like---I find it fascinating.
