A Pittsburgh query

Dear All,
I know this is out of line, but didn't know how else to ask, so please pm me with responses so as to not contribute to the delinquency of my posting.  I've been asked to consider attending a church-related conference in Pittsburgh next August 12-18, 2013.  As I'm making my decision, I'm wondering, are some of you involved in living history in that area?   I know the region is just chock-full of history, and please forgive my ignorance, but are there places to visit &/or events going on then that are so tempting that I'll know immediately I have to head out there?
