I've been asked to do a 1-day Parasol recovering workshop near Lancaster, PA sometime this winter.  We would base at my sister's home near Hagerstown, MD.  Anyone within about a 60/70 mile radius of Hagerstown interested in a workshop by either Kay or me while we are there? We'll be tacking on some vacation/sightseeing while there. ..and we will only have one vehicle...

Most likely time frame will be February/March, 2012.  I'll see my sister this weekend & ask her preferences.

I'm not within that radius, but if the winter weather was kind, I would be very tempted to trek down.

Lori and Anna,  Once we have some firmed up dates, I'll post them.  At the moment I am working with someone there who is setting it all up - specifically for her group.  I limit the workshop to 4 or 5 competent sewists (so I don't need to teach anyone how to use a sewing machine...  Roll Eyes), and so any openings in the workshop will depend on how many of her group plan to attend.  I can then put you in touch with the workshop hostess.

What I'd really like to do is to set up a second workshop in the area so that travel expenses get shared out over more people making it more affordable to have Kay and/or me to drive there.

Another option is a 2 day workshop over the same weekend if we can work out transportation for Kay to get to the workshop site.  I'm offering her up, ladies (and gents).  She can do workshops on lots of different subjects including pattern drafting (women's garment drafted up from an extant pattern http://shop.originals-by-kay.com/category.sc?categoryId=76) or men's trousers), bonnet making, corsets, cages, bodices (day or evening) outerwear of various types, millinery (caps, etc).  Some of these are 1 day, some 2 day.  Just ask.

But it would need to be a group and you would need to do the location finding, and getting attendees on your end.  I host workshops in my home all the time, so location need not be fancy. Minimal food should be provided, or a nice place for lunch.

Well, at this point I am into April.  Checking some dates with my sister to see if they will be home.  We are closing in on the 14th or 21st as the Saturday, and will only be able to choose one of those. Our preference is the 14th but it is ultimately up to my sister, and the Saturday belongs to the person who asked me to do the first one.

I cannot leave home before the 11th as I have a presentation scheduled the evening of the 10th.

Ok, I am undoubtedly a total ditz, but I cannot find my emails regarding the Parasol workshop(s) scheduled for the weekend of April 14 & 15 in PA & MD.  Plus, all of my old saved messages on the forum are gone, so I can't contact my contact!  I searched through several hundred emails saved on my computer that have the word parasol in them, and came up empty.

So will someone please contact me from the group that plans to attend?  I need numbers so I can order supplies!
