binding with twill tape?

Has anyone found stays bound with twill tape? I was thinking of binding my toddlers stays with 1/2inch white cotton twill tape. Would this be appropriate over the self bias? I'm hand applying it so I'm not worried about the slight shaping issues. I cut her stays out of a scrap of sateen and don't have enough to make bias that would look nice. In this period (1858-1866) would binding stays or corsets have been done in contrasting fabric? Like blue silk satin binding on a cream silk corset? or the white twill binding on a cream toddler's stays? Thank you in advance for letting me pick your knowledge!

Not sure on the answer about twill tape but I just use white cotton muslin on the bias to bind off my girls stays. Cheap, easy and minimal bulk.

Tape to finish off the edges is accurate, but when choosing a tape, a fine cotton or linen will work to your advantage. Many cotton tapes they sell today are to bulky and coarse to resemble those found on originals. Stephanie
