I'd like my boys  to have some drawers to wear under their night shirts since they frequently get ready for bed before all the public has left and I don't want them to flash people (especially in their modern undies.)  However, my 9 year old and possibly the 7 year old has outgrown Mrs. Clark's boy's pattern.  Can I use the girl's drawers pattern or is there something about the fit or style that would make them inappropriate?

It will depend on if you intend them for actual "drawers" as in under their trousers too... or only as a sort of pajamas bottoms.

If they are to be worn under trousers too, then you will want to follow the openings of their trousers. If they are young enough to have side opening trousers, then Miz Liz's girls' drawers pattern will probably work nicely for you. If they have fly front trousers, then you'll want to scale down some men's drawers so their drawers will open in front.

If they will only wear them as a type of "pajamas bottoms", you might try scaling down the 1861 Sanitary Commission drawers... those were meant for use with hospital shirts for recouperating wounded who were mobile. They have drawstring waists and a more substantial fly... which would be a bit more like the PJ bottoms they'd be accustomed to.

Good luck.

These would be merely pajama bottoms.  They have drawn a line in the sand over actually wearing drawers under trousers, and since they don't show I'm not going to fight that battle.   Wink
