Alright, my RIT experiment was an abysmal failure, so I broke down and ordered the fiber reactive dye from Dharma Trading Co. Tomorrow is the big day I actually attempt to dye, is there anything I should know in advance?

I plan to bucket dye linen tape, and I also have both Synthrapol and Soda ash. I'm just hoping the fiber reactive dye will give me a better brown color than the maroon/red I got from the RIT. The linen tape is an off-white to light tan shade to begin with. Will that affect the results? Any helpful hints or procedures?

Lissa,
I'm dying to know (sorry about the pun) - did the dye work?  How did it turn out?

I, too, would love to know how it went.  I would have worried that I needed to take out some or all of the Rit color before I re-dyed, but I am a novice at all but truly natural dyes.  Do let us know what worked for you!
