Looks to be only 14 yards of this pretty left. It is medium weight, so it might be too heavy.

Ok so I was just at JoAnn's looking for fabric for a PINK sunbonnet NOW! (See my other thread) Anyway I happened across several fabrics that I hadn't seen around before and some of them kind of looked in the realm of possible.  I have a friend who wants to make a "real" dress but just for fun and so cost has been a big problem.  Wondering if any of these would work for a dress or sunbonnet?

These two I am sure are a no but she "LOVES" them so I am going to double check

Paula,
Out of all of them I like the cheddar yellow at the top best. The others seem iffy to me.

I have a few fabrics that I am a little uncertain about.  Would you ladies be so kind and tell me if they are period correct?

The first one says a later time period on it, but I wondered if it would work for 1860s?

This one I think is actually a quilt backing as it is really wide.  I have a ton of it.

Here are a few others I wasn't sure about....

Thank you for any help!!!

Hmm... I agree. Not an expert by any means, in fact I'm struggling with fabric choices myself! But the pattern on the green does look the most '60s to me. And it's beautiful too Smiley

The two busy leafy prints are more '40s-'50s, but such fabrics were still being remade into early '60s dresses. Or you can use them as really period linings, since many an older cotton dress got reused as a lining.

Thanks for your help! My little girl really wants the bottom one as a pinafore.  I know it is a little dark, but she really likes it.   Smiley  So the second one is no good?

Could I get away with this for a wash dress?  I know the motifs are perhaps not spaced enough- but it looks right to my eye.  Tell me if I'm mistaken:)

My crazy friends are all on a quest for pioneer dresses and are randomly picking fabrics without really knowing what they are doing.  Most I am ok on but this one has me stumped.  Can I get a yes or a no and why on this one?  She is planning on using it for a child's dress.

Paula, I would say no if for no other reason than that it all has a slightly quirky hand-drawn look, which 150 years ago would simply have been perceived as bad draftsmanship.
