It was so much fun to open the Living History season last weekend! Noah finally transitioned into older boys' outfits  for the season:  And here is little brother's outfit (some hand-me-downs):  It was actually pretty warm, so now I'm busy working on their summer clothes! Anyone else have opening events with pics to share? |

Noah looks like such a handsome little man! I don't blame him for wanting a top hat just like dads... But I must say that the hat you made for him looks terrific. (then again is there ANYTHING you've made that doesn't look terrific?) The vest would be what would frighten me the most. I haven't gotten the courage up to sew Peter's vest yet. I'm sure it'll make better sense once I've done it the first time, but all those little pieces! You did a great job.

Rachel - The patterns for Noah's clothes (the one with the drum) are the Period Impressions fly-front trousers & square shirt. The vest is from an original pattern that is in the works to be published soon by Marta Vincent & Originals-By-Kay. His hat is by Timely Tresses. They have had a pattern in the works for some time as well, I don't know if they have actually published it yet or not. Nate's button suit is from Elizabeth's boy's patterns and his hat is from the Workwoman's Guide instructions. With the status of boy's patterns as it is, you have to be creative and pull them from a variety of sources to get a complete outfit!

They looked so perfect! It is so fun to have them galloping about the verandah like the little Tolmie boys of yore. They really add to our complete picture Lissa, I am so proud of them and you when visitors can't take their eyes off your family. Your attention to detail from picnic baskets to hats to little drums and toys is inspiring and delightful.

Here are DS's tunics for the year. The pants are in their 3rd year of use! Moving buttons works swell They also started out a bit too long--I'm sure they'll be authentically too short by the end of the year! His orange plaid tunic is made from a cotton shirting from FFC and buttons are brown and white china buttons from a local antique dealer.   His blue tunic is a cotton from Fabric.com.   |

How adorable! He wears it very well Incidentally, the Minnesota History Center has a new exhibit about the US-Dakota War, which I checked out this weekend. In the exhibit there's a picture of some refugee women and children - several girls and one boy. The boy was wearing a short sleeve tunic or dress, well past the age of infancy. He looked to be about 5 years old or so. Glad to see your son portraying a past-infancy boy in that style! He looks charming! |

Hooray! I finally figured out how to post pics here! Soooo... here are my twin boys Ben and Nate from events these past few months. I unfortunately never got around to making them a second set of dresses, so now I need to get it in gear so they have colder-weather clothing for this fall. At a vintage baseball game on a very chilly May day (jackets by our own Marta Vincent):  Warmer June weather, minus petticoats since it was in the 90s and muggy:  |
