Good Day All,

I've been doing some searching through Antique stores for old wallpapers, those without spray paste to use for envelopes. It's not only tough to find in old patterns, but also finding some rolls without printing on the reverse, let alone those nasty pre-pasted styles. My question for you is this, would a heavier craft scrapbook paper work just as well? The pattern part of the paper would be inside the envelope, consequently very little of it would actually show depending upon how the envelope is opened, but I'm interested to know what ideas some of you might have. Many kind thanks for your time and attention. Cheesy

I have faced the exact same problem.  I have realized that scrapbooking background paper will do just the trick.

Not only will it work, there are some excellent wall paper type prints! And the price is right Grin

Thank you both for your replies. I've not gone to any scrapbooking shops to look at the papers, but from just visiting antique stores and eBay, I'm amazed at the prices of wallpaper, as I thought it was expensive to buy new, but that doesn't compare to the old stuff! Goodness me, I have a few roles of paper, but all have glue, funny how wallpaper is out of fashion today. Undecided From what I gather, people buy the old stuff today for boxes and picture frame art, which is a good idea if you want an aged look, but far too pricey for simple envelopes. Again, many kind thanks for writing.

Hi,

You said you haven't been to any scrapbooking shops.  I've found that Michael's has a wonderful selection and often puts it on sale for 40% off!!!  A. C. Moore also has a really good selection.

Hope this helps a bit.

I'll second the suggestion to visit Michaels. They have an amazing collection of paper!  And the prices are better than in a scrapbooking shop - where they are more specialized.

Does anyone remember a website that had digitized and dated pictures of wallpapers?
