I not sure just how mainstream this is,as I haven't been there before, but there will be a C.W. ball at the Ohio State House this sat. here's a link. to it for anyone in our area who would like to attend.  http://www.ohiochannel.org/your_state/ohio_statehouse/communications/press_releases/press_release.cfm?release_id=94533 The ball is free.  Last year they had around 300 folks show up.The State House held the 1st of there balls in 1857 I think. There are 4 of us going and if anyone from The Academy will be going We'd love to meet up with you. Maybe we could all go eat as a group, between dance pratice at 4:00 and the ball at 7:00.

Donna,
This is a "mainstream" event as it is open to the public and period clothing is not required. Snacks supplied are not necessarily period nor is the PA system  Roll Eyes However, it is awesome to dance inside the big open space in the Statehouse, especially since Lincoln attended two events there and was laid out in the Rotunda during his funeral "procession" and the Statehouse was used as a "campground" for troops moving South during the war. Lots of history in that building!

I will, Donna! If I can get my girlfriend in early enough to "sew" her into her ballgown, we'll make the Grand March - however, at the last two Statehouse balls, I've missed the Grand March AND the first Waltz - I HATE her ballgown bodice! I literally use a needle and thin ribbon to sew her up!
