Dana did you have a pattern or just wing it?
Paula,  I had to wing it like a bird, it took about 4 trys to get a scallop that I liked. If you want a copy of the scallop pattern PM me with your address and I'll send it to you.

Thanks Anna, they will be making their debut Saturday.  Smiley

I've finally completed my Timely Tresses Eliza Coretta kit that I bought with birthday money last year.  It was FABULOUS to work with and a very fun project! I would highly recommend her patterns and kits to anyone with some sewing experience! Her tech support is also VERY helpful and quick!

The silk is a silk faille from FFC and the trimmings and ribbon are from Timely Tresses.

accessories.

this summer's funnest sewing project (besides many others)

the housewife for several of my siblings and a daughter-like friend.
i didn't take pics of the first two i made for my daughter and a niece,
which i made with period fabrics (cotton, wool, silk).
 oops! my bad.   Tongue

anyway here is the link to my picasa album
(oh how i wish i could figure out how to actually post the photos instead-)

https://picasaweb.google.com/118365763323227217927/HousewifeSewingKit?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCImruPO36szk0gE&feat=directlink

i am still waiting for anna's book to make it out
so i can finish the last 3 family housewives (with a box)
because these will be for the actual sewers in my family.
the ones in my album are for the "button mender" family members
(hence the wacky fabrics on a couple- they match their personalities)
tee hee.

ohhh anna wherefore art thou?  Wink

Not Anna's delay... it's the illustrator/publisher who is woefully behind schedule. Anna's finished her gorgeous part some time ago, right on schedule! Smiley

Hey everyone, I thought I would share some pics of the commission I just finished for Auntie B, a Victorian Travel bag!

The bag is made from black linen and trimmed with cotton ribbon (as opposed to the original, which had twill tape and featherstitching). It?s basically a rectangle that?s been sewn into a tube with two circles attached to the end, so that it looks like a duffle bag.

The handles are also made of the ribbon, but two layers of it, and the bag closes with 5 black glass buttons:

And the interior is this neat tan, red, and black repro cotton:

I'm making myself one, as well, and they should get a lot of use at our camping event next weekend! Smiley

great job! She'll not loose that in the airport. I find these indispensable. I added pockets to the lining and just keep all my needed items in it all the time. Just put the clothes in and go-modern, or period. So cool!!

I just acquired an original traveling bag.  It's similar in size and shape but has a nifty buttoned flap, a shaped handle, an inner pocket, and is trimmed in braidwork in a scroll pattern.  It will be on my 2013 class schedule.  Wink

Thank you everyone for the lovely compliments! Smiley

And Bevin, the pocket thing is a really good idea. I haven't finished mine yet, so I think I will add some pockets to it. Smiley

And Carolann, now you're realy tempting me to save my pennies to attend the conference next year.  Wink

I wanted to post a picture of my pineapple purse I made from an 1844 pattern.  I made it with a fingering weight silk.  It could also be made from purse silk but I wanted to practice before I try it that fine.  I think all in all it looks pretty nice.  Thanks for letting be brag a little.
