Ha! That is a great lace, and it doesn't seem much longer than some of those inspiration images.

I love both of those bonnets! They look so neat and well made. I also love that straw hat! It's given me some ideas of how do decorate my own (I have a good amount of chantilly scraps.) How far around the brim does the lace go/how wide is it?

All the way 'round. I left the lace at a finished depth of 8 inches. The brim is about 3.5 inches, the lace drops dwon about 4.5 inches. Most of the images I looked at just had the lace tacked along the edge of the brim and looked like they varied about 2-4 inches deep.
Oh yeah-Anna-where did you find that ribbon for Barb's bonnet?

I'm with Liz. Where indeed did you find that AWESOME ribbon? Best I've found to date is a mere 3" wide. Sniff, sniff.

This is either the one from Denmark or the one from Italy. I don't recall which one was which at this moment. Barb individually picked out each piece that went on her bonnet. She found some Amazing ribbons.

If you want AMAZING ribbons, check out Hyman and Hendler in NYC. I got some once-in-a-lifetime finds on the last visit (Spent my Christmas and Birthday money for sure!) Once they get put on the bonnet form Anna just finished stiffening, I'll post some pics. http://www.hymanhendler.com/BTW, has anyone had trouble with the white hemp plait turning yellow when washed?
