I thought about making a doll stand for my china doll, to put it on display, but I have no idea how to make such a thing.  Has anyone tried making anything like that?  Or know where I can get one that would work?  (I have "Civility").

This is Virginia's spouse posting.

For Civility's cousin, Emily, we just obtained a modern doll stand.  We did anchor it to a larger piece of wood to give it more stability.  Two of those were what supported both Emily and Civility on their tour of Washington City.  They aren't very obtrusive although I will admit using photoshop to get rid of any traces when they did show.

I have bought several at thrift shops that have dark wooden bases. Now if I ever get the dolls dressed, they can stand up, or one of them can sit in the cute chair made of twigs that I just picked up.

Should I get an 18" doll stand?  Exactly where does the doll stand grasp the doll at... around the waist?  I think the waist on this doll is higher than on a "modern" doll.

I found a website that sells doll stands that have a glass or plexiglass cover for them.  I wonder if I might want to try one of those, or just a regular one.  (The site I found has a $25 minimum order, I could do both!)  I wonder if doll stands are sold at Hobby Lobby?  The nearest one is 80 miles away in a town I go to once a week, perhaps I can check there next time I'm in town.

Are they still available?  In a previous life I used to import those things by the container load...through the port of Tacoma.  Smiley
