Awesome!! I have an aunt in Rockford I could stay with.... I do not have a ball gown. Is this something where I would need one or would my good day dress work?

Your good day dress would be absolutely perfect.  Not everyone owns a ball gown.

If you are going to be near Washington DC on Jan 31st, there will be dance demos in period dress at the Reynold's Art Museum (Smithsonian). They also currently have an exhibit on Lincoln's second inaugural ball which was held in this building. Plus , the art work is outstanding worth the trip all by itself. The dance demo is by the Victorian Dance Ensemble and sponsored by the Smithsonian Reynold's Art Gallery. You can check out their websites for further information.     Stephanie
