Hi all,

I just ran across a swatch of fabric at C.R. Childs -- called "Crowfoot".  He sent it to me as an alternative to regular jean wool.  It's grey-brown, is listed under "jeans" but has a smooth, felt-like feel to it, and it seems to hold its edge really well.  Any expertise out there regarding the use of this fabric in western-theatre, Trans-Mississippi department?  I'm traveling, so at the moment I have no books/resources at my disposal.  Wondered if anyone knew a thing about it.

Thanks much!

The swatch on the website looks great to me.

Something I've seen on original garments, but not so much on reproduction jeancloth is that often times there's a heavy nap on the original cloth that obscures the warp threads.  Only after the garment experiences heavy use and wear does the nap wear away to expose the cotton threads.

Great, Phil, thanks!  Smiley

After looking them over this weekend, it looks like all we can really afford is the jean wool right now.  C. R. Child's is $24/yd.  Maybe one day, when we feel like just trying something new, I can get him to buy this.  I know he's going to get tired of brown jean wool eventually.  Smiley
