Made my first pair of shoes.  I'll tweak the fit a bit for next time (and use a stiffer lining), but I really like how the plaids worked at the center front seam.

I'm wondering if I could use something similar to disguise the fact that I have to wear modern walking shoes with wide and high toe box, anti-pronation structure, and prescription orthotics to accommodate my deformed feet.  I currently rely on the fact that the shoes are black leather oxfords and on keeping my shoes tucked under my skirts when seated.  These (maybe in a solid dark color instead of plaid?) would hide the modern shoes underneath.  What do you all think?

Thanks, everyone.  Not taking commission unless/until I get a proper last and some more experience. Wink

MaryDee, I'm not an expert by any means, but the upside of making one's own shoes is that you can alter the sides/shape to suit your own needs.  Best of luck on your quest.
