I posted this over on the Civilian Civil War Closet on Facebook, but stuff gets buried so fast there, I thought I would try here too. My husband has been observing that I haven't sewed anything for him yet... Cheesy

I have some questions about men's neckwear that I can't quite seem to figure out or find answers to. I've tried searching, so sorry if I've missed something. What fabrics are available and appropriate? Would silk for cravats be taffeta, or something else? What about for neck kerchiefs? They would be cotton of some sort, right? Thank you!

Thank you! (How missed those, especially that first one, is beyond me...) Exactly what I was looking for!

I'm the family Search Queen. I have a knack for entering the right terms.

(As one of the many tradeoffs we are dealt in this life, I only excel at improper nouns: I am horrible at people's names!)  Undecided

Eliza, Jessamyn is also an excellent tour guide!  Showing proper Victorian reserve and humility, of course.

Best, Jean

Jean, I can't believe how long it's been! (I also don't know exactly how long it's been, and am not sure I want to calculate it.  Roll Eyes ) Would love to see you again...

Please pardon our tangential chatter!

Jessamyn, my niece graduates from high school next June, another visit is in the works!

Thanks so much, Jean
