My son is currently 6 and wears some button suits and some tunics and pants/short pants.  We are usually upper working/ middle class impression wise.  In previous seasons, he has worn his sister's out grown Mary Jane style shoes in the warmer months and ankle boots in the cooler months.  Is he too old to still use the Mary Jane style shoe?  What is an upper age range for that style shoe on boys?  I'm asking for a few reasons.  1.  I just added an ankle strap to a brand new pair that I *thought*  would fit my daughter this season only to find out that they were too small.  I'm wondering if I should save them for him or sell them off.   2.  My boy doesn't mind wearing them, I've got a steady supply, and it is nice to have options.

At this point I would just use boots or shoes for him. Ankle strap shoes for boys seem to co-inside with the dress phase. Girls wear them into  the teen years.

Ankle strap shoes are usually a turned shoe, making them a little less sturdy for everyday wear but perfect for indoor and special occasions.          Stephanie

Thanks for weighing in Stephanie.  Fortunately, I also have a supply of outgrown boots just waiting for him.

Since he's transitioning into all trouser styles, I'd move to the shoes/boots as well.
