Title: Black Watch Waistcoat
Post by: Chip on May 08, 2017, 08:18:24 AM
Like others on this forum, I occasionally check thrift stores to search for a wide variety of materials.
One of the more unusual sources for men's waistcoat material can be found in the women's winter skirt section.

Anyway, as I was looking for 100% wool material, I came across a lengthy skirt with a tag sewn inside that stated, "Authentic Black Watch Pattern."

So a $4.50 skirt purchase and an order put in for some, "Thistle," buttons, turned into a new waistcoat.

I don't have even a hint of Scottish ancestry, but I simply couldn't pass on this project.

Very handsome, sir! And I love a good repurposing.
